Title: MC:VS Changes
Post by: SugarD-x on Jun 14, 2019, 08:23 PM
Due to some recent changes involving the host's panel system, Minecraft's own server memory leaks, and other various issues, I have implemented a change to how the automatic restarts happen to help mitigate these problems better.

Previously, the server would automatically restart at 5:00 AM (05:00) and 5:00 PM (17:00) local server time only if the server was empty. As the server has gained a lot of popularity, this has been unfortunately not happening because users have been on around the clock! In response to this, I have now set the server to restart automatically at these times regardless of whether players are online or not. Now before anyone panics, I have also added in server message warnings that will be sent server-wide five minutes before the server is set to restart automatically, and will continue to send those messages every minute leading up to the restart itself. This should give users plenty of warning to ensure they are in a safe place to continue when they reconnect after the server restarts. If the warnings become too spammy, I will scale them back, but so far this seems like it may be sufficient.

Moving forward, if you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to share them in the Ideas board (http://www.asshatgaming.com/index.php?board=90.0)! We are open to them, even if they aren't something we are able to do, (like plugins in this particular server, since it is 100% vanilla and cannot use them).

Have fun everyone!
